RHINO ‘Graphic’ Reviews is marking its fifth anniversary. We asked our contributors to create book reviews with graphic elements. This started with six graphic reviewers and became one of our most popular segments. Now, many of our audiences look forward to ‘reading’ graphic reviews every September. I wanted to do something new for this issue; therefore, I invited Kylie Gellatly to be a guest Graphic Reviews Editor.
I am also excited to introduce a new textbook and translation on graphic literature. Rose Metal Press just released its Field Guide series about Graphic Literature. Kelcey Ervick and Tom Hart talked about their editorial process. Geoffrey Brock recently translated a French graphic novel, Social Fiction, and shared his translation insights. Please celebrate this new addition to our literature community. It was a beautiful morning for a poetry reading!
I had a celebratory reading for a new anthology, "Chicago Mosaic: Immigrant Stories of Objects Kept, Lost, or Left Behind", at the Printers Row Lit Fest 2023. The anthology was edited by Chris Green and Amy Tyson. It contains stories from generations of Chicago immigrants and is available from Big Sholders Books. |
