I am often asked how RHINO Poetry selects readers. We welcome rising stars, our contributors, local poets, and poets who recently published their collections. RHINO also receives inquiries and selects poets by our editorial team.
Then, Liz O'Connell-Thompson and I organize reading events -- decide dates & time, book a venue, etc.
For this time, it was a collaboration event with a photographer, Stacy Mehrfar, from New York City. She has an exhibition "The Moon Belongs To Everyone" at Filter Photo.
RHINO asked guest poets to write or select after Mehrfar's photos.
It was a really, REALLY fantastic reading melding words and images.
Liz is the official RHINO MC. She writes a script for the event and speaks so well. I am looking forward to coordinating another reading event with her!
I had a chance to interview Karen Llagas. She is the author of the poetry collection, All of Us Are Cleaved.
