"On a Black Hill" (Page 4) took more time to complete. It still shaves my soul when I read it at events.

My first graphic poetry reading event was with RHINO Poetry. It was before I became an editor. I read with Jacques Rancourt. Ralph Hamilton made this booklet for our audience.
Tupelo Press invited me to a residency at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. There I received my first inspiration for graphic poetry. In this picture, I was with Cassandra Cleghorn (Poetry Editor and Associate Editor for Nonfiction & incredible musician).
I also developed my website while I was creating my graphic poetry collection. Please check out my graphic poetry study guide. You may also like reading process essays by writers and artists in Working on Gallery.

If you look closely, there are many Japanese snack wrappings in my graphic poems. They are all my family's favorite.
I had my first graphic poetry workshop, and then I received the Notable Recent Alumna Award from Indiana University South Bend.
