Bio

Naoko Fujimoto was born, raised in Nagoya, Japan, and studied at Nanzan Junior College. She was an exchange student and received a B.A. and M.A. from Indiana University. Her poetry collections are "We Face The Tremendous Meat On The Teppan", winner of C&R Press Summer Tide Pool Chapbook Award by C&R Press (2022), "Where I Was Born", winner of the editor's choice by Willow Books (2019), "Glyph:Graphic Poetry=Trans. Sensory" by Tupelo Press (2021), and "Mother Said, I Want Your Pain", winner of the Shared Dream Immigrant Contest by Backbone Press (2018). Her first chapbook, “Home, No Home” (2016), won the annual Oro Fino Chapbook Competition by Educe Press and short collections, “Silver Seasons of Heartache” & "Cochlea" (2017) by Glass Lyre Press, are available from each press. She is a RHINO associate & out-reach translation editor and Tupelo Quarterly translation editor.

Short Bio

Naoko Fujimoto was born and raised in Nagoya, Japan. Recent work appears or is forthcoming in POETRY, Kenyon Review, Seattle Review, Quarterly West, North American Review, Hayden's Ferry Review, Prairie Schooner, Crazyhorse, and The Arkansas International. She is the author of We Face The Tremendous Meat On The Teppan (C&R Press, 2022)​, Glyph:Graphic Poetry=Trans. Sensory (Tupelo Press, 2021), Where I Was Born (Willow Publishing, 2019), and four chapbooks. She is an editor at RHINO Poetry and Tupelo Quarterly.

ふじもと なおこ

アメリカを中心に活動するシカゴ在住の詩人。
1976年創刊 RHINO Poetry 、2001年設立 Tupelo Pres 発行 Tupelo Quarterly 雑誌編集員。

愛知県、名古屋市出身。10代から単身ポートランド、オレゴン州にて英語、英作文を学ぶ。南山短期大学にて中学校教諭一種免許状(英語)取得。インディアナ大学、同校大学院卒業。インディアナ大学サウスベンドレスターM.ウォルフソン賞、日本人且つ留学生初受賞。学生時代より英語で執筆する日本人詩人として話題を集め、数々の雑誌に作品を掲載。

2016年モンタナ州ビュートオノフィノ賞、初の詩集 ”Home, No Home”を出版。翌年シカゴの出版社より2作目を発表。ノースキャロライナ州バックボーンプレス賞、ウイローブックエディター賞受賞。6冊目となるオールカラーグラフィクポエトリーは、マサチューセッツ州出版社より2021年に発売。2022年、C&R 短編アワード受賞。

現在は、編集員として、世界各国から集まる詩の選考、編集、シカゴ近郊アートイベント企画、開催に携わっている。日本滞在中は、子供向け英会話教室などボランティア活動をしている。
